A Profitable Digital Oral Surgery Practice Starts with Digital Transformation

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Differentiate between the terms digital workflow and digital transformation
• Understand the role of digital transformation in the implementation of new
technology
• Identify common pitfalls that can occur during digital transformation
• Understand the impact of digitization on the clinician-patient and specialistreferral relationships

DESCRIPTION

The term digital transformation is often confused with the term digital
workflow. Within implant dentistry, digital workflow is the utilization of digital
technology to standardize daily practice operations. Digital transformation
refers to the cultural change a practice must undergo in order to reap the
benefits of digital technology. Digital transformation requires rethinking the
products and services of a practice, rather than just its operations.
In the past, many surgeons have prioritized digital workflow by selecting
equipment or software without first considering the impact of new
technology on their practice, patients, staff, and referring doctors-digital
transformation. This has caused many digital initiatives to become inefficient
and underutilized.

During this course, we will explore the nuances of digital transformation in
preparation of the digital change. Participants will learn the necessary steps
they must take before, during, and after purchasing new equipment in order
to optimize their practice operations. This includes understanding whether
the office team and referrals are open to digital transformation, defining
the entry point for digital transformation within the practice, and when
it’s appropriate to bring in a consultant to assess and assist your practice in
digital transformation.
